It can actually help relax our mind. A powerful way to relax the mind is to meditate. And what better way to meditate than in the warmth of your hot tub? Whether you currently meditate or are looking for ways to relax and de-stress, meditation in the hot tub is something you should definitely consider. Here’s why.
Hydrotherapy is a proven way to relax your muscles and relieve pain in your body. Warm water soothes your muscles and relaxes your body within minutes. By combining hydrotherapy with meditation, you help your body restore itself to a stage of complete tranquility. To meditate in the hot tub, start by using slow and deep breaths, and concentrate on becoming more aware of the sensations you’re feeling. For example, you can concentrate on the feeling the warm water has on your skin, the feeling of the jets pushing water towards your body, and even the sounds around. If you feel distracted, focus on your breathing to bring your focus back to your meditation. Remember, long, deep breaths are what you’re aiming for.
Consider playing music either in your hot tub stereo or with speakers nearby to further your ability to rest, relax and meditate. Light aromatherapy candles that you love near the hot tub. This can be especially useful for beginners who do not have much experience meditating. You can start with shorter sessions that last from five to ten minutes, and then increase the amount of time you spend meditating whenever you feel you’re ready. Although you’ve set the mood, make sure you aren’t staying in the hot tub for too long. Typically a great meditation session can last 15-20 minutes, and hot tub sessions should be no more than 30 minutes.
