  1. I’ve heard salt water units shouldn’t be installed on aboveground pools. Is that true?

False! It’s important that you choose a pool that has been engineered to handle the corrosion a salt water system can generate on the steel walls of an aboveground pool. Choose a resin pool or a resin coated pool. The resin will prevent corrosion from happening. If you are installing a heater with a salt system, don’t forget to install a check valve.

  2. How long does it take to install an aboveground pool?

Typically, it takes 2-3 days from start to finish.

  3. Why is it important to have a good pump & filter on my aboveground pool?

The pool pump and filter work together to protect your pool from algae breakouts, cloudy water and bacteria buildup. Without proper circulation and filtration, it’s near impossible to maintain proper water chemistry.

  4. I want to install a pool myself, do you have aboveground pool kits in stock?

We sure do! We always have a selection of aboveground pool kits in stock and ready for pick up or delivery. We have warehousing facilities at our Markham store location.

  5. What are the options for installing an aboveground swimming pool?

Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs has various options for aboveground swimming pools. This is a cost-effective alternative to an in-ground pool, with all the benefits, and while staying on budget. We supply and install the best brands in the industry, and offer installation services, or DIY kits (do-it-yourself). Our aboveground swimming pools are fabricated in Canada, and manufactured to withstand a wide range of Toronto temperature extremes.

  6. What’s involved when it comes to installing an aboveground pool?

For someone who wants to get into the “do-it-yourself” experience, installing an aboveground swimming pool is quite manageable. But it will require appropriate tools and equipment, as well as some help from others. It’s essential to follow instructions and to ensure that manufacturer’s specifications are addressed. In most cases, assembly and installation is straightforward, but as always, Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs can be of service.

  7. What kind of preparation is required prior to installing the pool?

To begin with, it’s important to select the type of pool, shape, and size that suits your needs. All of this should coincide with a chosen location. As for location, the selected space should be level ground and free of any debris. There should be easy access to electricity and plumbing, and the final location should be free of shrubs, bushes, or trees. At Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs, we often recommend that the final surface settles for one season.

  8. Is there customer support and service available after purchase?

Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs has two retail stores – one located in Markham, one in Newmarket. We stock an inventory of pool equipment and supplies, as well as plumbing parts and accessories. Our staff is informed and knowledgeable about aboveground pools, and available with assistance and advice. You can also depend on us during those unforeseen emergency situations. And best of all, swimming pool water analysis is FREE of charge.

  9. What should we keep in mind with regard to pool maintenance?

Keeping a pool well kept, with regular, routine maintenance is key to longevity. And while many tasks can be handled personally, there are also tasks that should be handled by an expert. Where required, Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs can offer maintenance packages on a weekly, bi-weekly or scheduled basis. Our service team is well trained, with expertise in water chemistry, and with experience troubleshooting swimming pools issues.
